THE HAUNTOMANCY KASSETTES (Test Audio & Updates)

Howdy Haunts & Spectre-Spectators

Before I gab about the audio file above…

WE’RE PERFORMING IN PORTLAND TOMORROW

Tomorrow night Mary and I are performing our dual Moon Division and Revel Rosz sets at the old haunt of The Waypost in Portland, Oregon. The Waypost was my home venue back in the latter Portland days, and even allowed us to host a monthly We The Hallowed Salon (2016ish) – a live varitey show where I would host music, live art, local films, etc around me interviewing local magick minded folks in front of an audience. This is what birthed Pragmagick, thr first 3 episodes of which are taken from those very salons.

So yeah, it’ll be some hauntomantic work dipping into new music with in old haunts tomorrow night.

THE HAUNTOMANCY KASSETTES

“To record or play through magnetic means”

Thought I’d share a test of a new medium for the hauntomancy construction of the new album.

Through the improvised audiomancy of haunt manual and the evolution of the songs through our recent tour/performances, I am documenting the varied processes of the songcraft itself –  real ritual work in communion with a song and allowing yourself to attempt its deconstruction and oeuvre in different ways.

So at the end of the day, I’ve been writing/rewriting lyrics, structure, themes and sonics for the new Revel Rosz album – which I also am using the upcoming Divergent Magick grimoire to assist in constructing the work too!*

*The grimoire is on schedule for release this month and I’m aiming to gift them to those who want one on the condition they attempt to use it! More on that later!*

Anyway, I’ve been recording the evolution of the songs on my 4 track, live, and in the quiet dark with high-gain mics on real quiet amps lol.

I am planning on using this idea, as Hauntomancy Casettes, as a sub-show on the Pragmagick Radio Hour – lo-fi tape skewed musickal works, spoken word, splices, etc!

This is a test of the construction of it – digitizing the tape and such – and it contains:

  • A hushed electric live version of “Many Named” replete with yellhound howls that chase the protagonist for escaping an eternity of Binah to haunt his widow
  • A (admittedly) sloppy travis-picked rendition of Father Karras (A song that uses the infamous character from Friedkin/Blatty’s Exorcist to illustrate the familiar struggle of skepticism and spirituality through his character being a psychology academic clad in a collar
  • And an audiomantic dark fuzz version of Father Karras during an audiomancy session of throwing every precinceived idea of the sonics of the song at the wall

Will keep everyone updated about the upcoming grimoire publication this month (really proud of this one!) and new 4-track Hauntomancy tape episode of Pragmagick!

WILL SHARE SOME PORTLAND ROMPS THIS WEEKEND!

HAUNT ON,
RKR
