PRAGMAGICK INTERVIEW #33

EPISODE NOTES:

SLITHER HITHER WIERDOS & WITCHES, on this episode of the PRAGMAGICK Cast…

Thomas Sheridan

Thomas has been in the peripheral of my occult and magickal leanings for quite some time.  I’ve enjoyed his YouTube channels and lectures on everything from Santa Muerte to the machinations of being a modern Druid.  But there’s a few things that kept gnawing for a discussion with him such as the psychological and philosophical ramifications of HEXing, or cursing.  As  budding magicians, I believe we all temper the scales of smiting thy enemies and naysayers.  But through this ethereal journey I find it more and more impractical and absolutely damning to even calibrate the psychology of trying to affect someone else’s will negatively.  Thomas, of course, has some thoughts…
We also dive deep into analog circuitbending and audiomancy – constructing “alien instruments” to create sounds that aid in transdimensional wayfaring.  Though, it was our discussion about mental health and him clarifying his stances that I find true worth in this discussion.  It was good to hear the subject through the eyes of someone who has suffered because of it, but not through it personally.
So slither hither weirdos and witches, here’s my chat with the enigmatic Thomas Sheridan.

I love the analogue and digital stuff. The difference between the standing waves and their shapes. I’m an alarm engineer of 35 years. The electronic stuff is fascinating everything is going digital and all the ole school stuff isn’t compatible.. ha haaaa.. I’m ole school so no upgrade for me haa haa
I was wondering about the nervous system and its electromagnetic sensors in relation to the digital electric and magnetic influence on individual consciousness. I can expand my consciousness through facebook to others and know they feel me. I’ve also felt the heart of people who love me through facebook or via text message.. Is facebook or texting digital or analogue?

    1. Keats Ross says:

Both analog and digital mediums can cast a desired outcome of connectivity beyond the mediums produced. however I feel there is a distinct personality, rhythm and echo to putting pen to paper rather than pounding keys with easy edits. the blemishes and the strokes of handwriting, to me, conjures something absolutely primal to the reader. and the more we move towards the digital text boxes with uniform fonts, the less those tones are felt. however, it is a testament to language and personal lexicons if you were to conjure the same tones from a reader within this digital format as you could with letter writing. I’d argue it’ may be more rewarding to elicit these rhythms without the asceticism of paper and ink as you’d have to stand by your language alone. Though this is seldom personified digitally. Facebook and texting would be digital. Hell, any form of creative communication with the infinite abilities to edit without suffering the medium (too many eraser marks will decay paper, too many pen scratches will blotch out the letter, etc. but there is no decay in digital transcription) should be considered digital. Anything that allows for non linear production. This is why I’ve come to enjoy typos in digital text as it can give the uniform character. sometimes.
