The Six of Pentacles means basic material success. This is a bright omen and one that is rooted in reality.
If we want more either now or later, this is a good time to form a picture of what we want. If it is both overwhelmingly reasonable and impossibly magical at the same time, all the better. Because we need both right now.
For a practical meditation on the Six of Pentacles make this Tea Cake:
¾ C. Almond Milk (or your preferred milk)
2 bags of English Breakfast Tea (or your fav)
1 C. of sugar
2 Teaspoons Allspice
2 C. Flour
1 ½ Tsp of baking powder
Pinch of salt
6 Tbs Butter (plant or diary-based)
1 Tsp Vanilla
2 Eggs (i use flaxseed–1Tbsp ground flaxseed w/ 2 Tbsp water [let sit up for a minute] = one egg)
Instructions:
Grease a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan or mini bundt pan (I use a regular size bundt for a cute, short bundt ring that sits perfectly on my favorite cake plates).
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees (F). Heat milk, add tea bags, bring almost to a boil, and remove from heat. Steep until completely cooled. Remove tea bags once cool.
In the meantime, combine flour, baking powder, allspice, and salt together in a small bowl.
In another bowl cream butter & sugar until smooth, then add the eggs (or flax mixture) one at a time, beating until light and fluffy.
Add flour mixture alternately with cooled tea milk, in three parts. Mix until batter is blended, do not overbeat.
Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (If you are using plant butter, the cake will remain fairly blond in color).
The Glaze
While this is not entirely necessary, the added pop of lemon brings out the flavor of this tea cake brilliantly. Plus, lemon is associated with the celebration of Spring.
⅔ C. confectioners sugar
3 Tbsp. lemon juice (or strong tea)
Combine.
Once your cake is fully cooled, or better– left to sit overnight, use a spatula to dress the top with glaze.
Make this cake and consider your vision, the picture of the future in your mind. The way you want it. Make this cake and consider how to give and receive support with ease. Make this cake, let it sit overnight, dress it with glaze and wishes and slice it to share. Success is possible in variety. Success is probable for the way you see it.
May we enjoy and share what we bring into the world.
