DIGGING DEEPER

For DIGGING DEEPER a 10 sided die is rolled and I explore whichever item it lands on. Sometimes this section will explain different dimensions of the item and other times it will be a rambling story about what an item means to me personally. The thing I’m trying to do here is show that even the simplest item is multifaceted and has far more definitions than I can ever explain. Every item is it’s own world, it’s own entity.

The item we’ll be doing a deep dive with this week is:

#55: LIVER

This week I rolled the LIVER and all I can think of is cirrhosis.

The liver is a good example of an ally that may turn on you after too much abuse. In the normal body, the liver filters the poisons and toxic substances from what you ingest and leaves you with what you need. It’s a necessary function. Our environment is filled with unknown dangers that our body has learned to cope with and poisons in our diet is just one of them.

Most of us know exactly what happens when you abuse this ally. A lot of people have alcoholics in their lives. I’ve had quite a few. Drug and alcohol abuse is a common thread in my family story.

So liver is one of your best friends until it’s not. It can take a beating but everyone and everything has a breaking point.

Every filter clogs eventually.

Even the best of allies have limits.

That’s all for now. Come back next week for another dig into the BOTTOMLESS BAG.

As always:
