Greece, like many countries, was plunged into economic disaster in 2008, after the massive plundering scams of the era. The people of Greece took to the streets to demand relief from the manufactured debt crisis. People and stray dogs, to be more accurate.
A dog named Kanellos (Greek for Cinnamon) was first recognized by a photographer who had been covering the protests and spotted the same dog walking with different protesters on different days because he was, indeed, the goodest boy so he always sided with the anti-fascists.
Kanellos was not the only dog to advocate for their best interests and the best interests of all that is good and worthy. Many dogs would join their natural allies, anarchists, over the coming years as street protests continued to demand decency from a privileged and corrupted government and their international banking cronies.
As legend has it, a dog given the name Loukanikos (Greek for Sausage), was witnessed working through the confusion of two sides of uniformed police officers but when rioting police attacked their striking colleagues, Loukanikos was relieved of his doubt and sided with the strikers.
Loukanikos evolved from taking the side of merely lesser evil to dedicate his life to the pursuit of full liberation. In the following years Loukanikos will join his comrades in the struggle against the oppressive power of the International Monetary Fund and the austerity measures taken against the people of the world on its behalf.
Riot Dogs are an antifascist phenomenon found around the world and we at Secret Antenna celebrate the unwavering moral compass and the revolutionary heart inside our bestest friends. Thank you for everything.
