It’s been a couple years since I released the first volume of this series and I strongly suggest you check out the post about it here. For those of you that don’t feel like taking a quick step into the past I’ll give a short explainer about what you can find in this newest volume and a little about the philosophy behind why I feel driven to make this books.

I’ve been an artist for my entire life and have spent years trying to both hone my craft and find my voice in the things I make. Over the last few years I’ve watched generative AI sit shoulder to shoulder with the art created by humans and something about it just makes my stomach churn. I wrote even wrote a thing or two about that in Lips and Assholes, Revisited.

My response to those feelings was to work. I worked harder than I probably ever had before. Artists have had to become like John Henry fighting back again the steam powered drill that threatened to take away both his dignity and his job. Like him I would rather die with a hammer in each of my hands than bow down to this machine.

This is where WOMBAT comes in. These books have been a reason and an excuse to try a bunch of different things, ranging from collage to sculpture to altering books, and creating them have reinvigorated my process every single time.

WOMBAT 2 includes a few older works and a few newer works, all mixed together into something like a visual mixtape.

There’s a zine, a prose poem, sculptural comics, collage, and so much more.

WOMBAT 2 is a 166 trade paperback and it’s currently available on Lulu.
