DIGGING DEEPER

For DIGGING DEEPER a 10 sided die is rolled and I explore whichever item it lands on. The item we’ll be doing a deep dive with this week is:

#2: GLASS DOME

This week’s item is another perfect example of what inspired BOTTOMLESS BAG and the idea of mundane magic.

My first reaction to GLASS DOME was the obvious: PROTECTION and PRESENTATION.

A glass dome is used to protect fragile items such as collectibles, heirlooms, or antiques. It provides a somewhat fragile and transparent shield around such items. You’re allowed to look but not touch. These things that we protect could be ideologies, ideas, beliefs, or even the way we view ourselves or others. The antiques of our mind and heart that we want to keep on display for ourselves but don’t allow for further scrutiny.

You don’t put things inside a glass dome unless you want others to have full view of them. Prizes, not eyesores, are put in such cases. If we follow the examples from above you may want to look at the views and ideologies that you put out there and whether or not they are truly an accurate portrayal and not simply the surface features you wish others to see.

Now, as always, this is my interpretation of this item in this particular time. I feel like I may be influenced by the upcoming American election and the overwhelming public displays of political beliefs constantly hitting us these days. It’s as if we’re all carrying our hearts in glass domes these days, out in the open for everyone to see, waiting for someone to arrive with a hammer and shatter our illusion of safety and protection.

Hold tight.

Take inventory of the riches you share with the world.

Keep them safe.

That’s all for now. Come back next week for another dig into the BOTTOMLESS BAG.

As always:

SEE WHAT’S INSIDE

DIG DEEP

AND

HAUNT ON
